Vision

Discover · Understand · Experience

My name is Svetla. I grew up in a picturesque landscape in southwestern Bulgaria, along the migratory bird route “Via Aristoteles”. Even as a child, I observed the birds migrating north in spring and south in autumn, always wondering who they were, where they came from, and where their journey led. This childhood curiosity still accompanies me today.

Many years later, I bought my first binoculars and delved deeper into the world of birds. Migratory birds particularly captivated me with their endurance, their perfectly organized lives along the route, and their ability to travel thousands of kilometers, returning reliably to their breeding grounds.

This fascination led me to photography—initially simply to help identify difficult-to-recognize species. However, it quickly evolved into a passionate hobby. Bird photography immediately captivated me, shifting my focus from pure documentation to experiential photography.

Light conditions, seasonal changes, and bird behavior continually inspire me. Over time, my photographic world expanded—from bird photography to a broader enthusiasm for flora and fauna. Still, migratory birds remain my heartfelt topic, as their journeys tell compelling stories of endurance, transformation, and nature’s delicate balance.

For me, photography means immersing myself in nature. My photos capture authentic moments experienced during walks, through listening, spontaneous encounters, or quiet observation.

Mission

Perceive · Appreciate · Protect

Through my photography, I aim to share my passion for nature. It takes very little to consciously experience nature—presence, mindfulness, and a deep appreciation of the moment are far more valuable than technical equipment. Tools like bird identification apps or cameras can enrich the experience, but they aren’t essential.

My photographs aim to inspire people to consciously experience nature and rediscover its wonders. I firmly believe that once we genuinely perceive and understand the animal world, we learn to love and protect it.

Migratory birds play a crucial role in ecosystems. However, their journeys are becoming increasingly perilous due to climate change, shrinking breeding grounds, and environmental destruction. It is our responsibility to preserve their habitats and maintain nature’s delicate balance—for the birds, for nature, and ultimately, for ourselves.
